Check out just a few of the FANTASTIC results achieved for our clients last month! This month’s round up includes a business owner who owed almost $3 million dollars, a client who inherited a company and inherited the large tax liability with it, and an oilfield worker whose case kept getting delayed by the IRS.
Case 1: Our first client was a business owner that had not filed since 1999 and owed almost $3 million dollars to the IRS in back taxes. The client had been to another tax company that helped get her compliant with the IRS, but then got her an installment agreement that she couldn’t afford. With her business barely making a profit, she was stretched too thin. Her husband had passed away which led to the tax troubles and the revenue officer assigned to their case was viciously trying to take every dollar he could. After being levied several times, our client came to us desperate to get her tax problem resolved. After looking through her financials and determining the best resolution, we were able to place her in Currently Not Collectible status. Now the client won’t have to worry about more levies, AND she saved over $2.9 million dollars!
Case 2: Our next client inherited a company, but was not aware of the large tax liability it had attached to it. After realizing the company had not paid taxes in over 15 years, it was time to get some help. The Polston Tax team first went and filed all the missing tax returns dating back to 2009. Once we got him compliant with the IRS, we started working on his financials in order to get him into a resolution. After months of aggressive negotiating, our team was able to establish a Partial Pay Installment Agreement with the IRS for $39/month. This ended up saving our client nearly $250,000!
Case 3: One of the more complex cases we were able to resolve this month was for a client who qualified for a resolution but had to wait months before it was resolved due to the IRS making multiple errors. Our client was a hearing impaired 1099 oilfield worker who didn’t take enough taxes out and ended up owing for several years. He was making about $24,000 a year and was being threatened with levies that would have made it impossible for him to afford his daily living expenses. After putting him into Currently Not Collectible status so he wouldn’t get levied, we ended up negotiating a Partial Pay Installment Agreement with the IRS. Several months passed and our office never received confirmation of the installment agreement. After going back and forth with the IRS, we found out our client was never placed in the installment agreement in the first place due to an IRS error and we had to start all over! The Polston Tax team worked endlessly to redo all our client’s financials and were finally able to file a new installment agreement that was confirmed by the IRS, saving our client over $200,000.
